Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Charlestown, MA is seeking a skilled Relief Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care team. The role involves triage, anesthesia, radiography, vitals assessment, and client communication in a fast-paced ER setting.

We offer a pay band of $27.00 - $49.00 per hour, with shift differentials for nights and weekends. This position provides opportunities for growth via our competency assessment tool and for those with VTS credentialing to be compensated

Qualifications

• Experience as an Emergency Veterinary Technician preferred.
• Ability to triage emergencies and monitor patient vitals.
• Proficiency in anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using monitoring equipment.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Charlestown, MA is seeking a skilled Relief Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency & Critical Care team.

Pay: $27.00 - $49.00 / hour

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We Also Offer Competitive Shift Differentials For Eligible Hours Worked For Nights And Weekends. Shift Differentials Are Based On a 4-hour Minimum. For Example

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$5.50 Shift Differential

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
