Job summary

CN Guidance and Counseling Services, Inc. seeks a dedicated counselor to provide supportive counseling, ADL training, crisis intervention and restorative services in residential programs.

The role ensures safety, proper documentation and compliance with regulatory guidelines while supporting residents in achieving service plan goals. The position requires a High School Diploma at minimum, with Bachelor’s degree preferred, and at least one year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a residential or mental health setting; internal CN Guidance preference if current employee.
  • Provide counseling, crisis intervention and restorative services in accordance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling and behavioral interventions to residents.
  • Monitor and assist residents with household activities to maintain a safe, homelike environment.
  • Train and supervise residents in daily activities including meals and personal care.
  • Assist residents in developing service plan goals and supports.
  • Conduct fire safety trainings and ensure drills comply with guidelines.
  • Document interactions and ensure programs are in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Meet weekly with residents to review goals and progress.
  • Coordinate with outside service providers and participate in case conferences.
  • Assist residents in obtaining and maintaining entitlements and medications as needed.
  • Provide transportation using personal vehicle when needed.

Job description

Job Definition

Provides supportive counseling, ADL training, crisis intervention and restorative services (when applicable) to people with psychiatric disabilities in residential programs in compliance with relevant regulations.

Educational Requirements

Minimum of a High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree Preferred.

Experience Required

Minimum of 1-year experience in a residential or mental health setting. If currently employed by CN Guidance, minimum of 1-year of employment in CN Guidance Residential department in good standing.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling, behavioral interventions, restorative services, assistance in negotiating community activities and crisis management services.
  • Monitor, train and assist residents in all programs in household maintenance activities to ensure a clean, safe and homelike environment. Directly participate in household maintenance activities when required.
  • Provide training, supervision and assistance to residents in daily activities including food purchases, recreational activities, and meal planning and personal care activities.
  • Assist residents in developing meaningful service plan goals and provide supports to assist residents in achieving their goals.
  • Conduct fire safety training activities and ensures fire drills are conducted in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in all Medicaid billable activities under leadership of the Supervisor, and/or ensure that all documentation required for the particular program is current and in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Document interactions with residents in accordance with agency policies and standards.
  • Meet weekly, or as scheduled, with assigned primary residents for counseling and to establish and review service plan goals.
  • Maintain collateral contacts with outside service providers and participate in case conferences as scheduled.
  • Assist residents in procuring and maintaining financial entitlements.
  • Monitor medications as required.
  • Make visits to residents in apartments as scheduled and/or provide 24-hour supervision to residents in congregate facilities.
  • Provide transportation as needed using personal vehicle when agency vehicle is not available.
  • Promptly report all emergencies, incidents, maintenance and safety issues to senior Counselor or Supervisor.
  • Participate in team meetings as scheduled.
  • Work a minimum of 1 shift monthly within the department.
  • Complete program trainings as assigned.
  • Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress.
  • Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed.

  • FULL-TIME COUNSELOR WILL RECEIVE A $750 BONUS AFTER 60 DAYS AND AN ADDITIONAL $1,000 BONUS AFTER 8 MONTHS.
