Job summary

Dept of Veterans Services is seeking a CNA/Relief Unit Secretary to join the Davis & McDaniel Vet Care Ctr team. This role performs unit clerical tasks and assists in resident care on the nursing unit, supporting the nursing team and maintaining orderly workflows.

The position requires a Virginia CNA license and CPR certification on hire or willingness to obtain. Work includes weekend rotation and potential cross-unit assignments as staffing needs change.

Qualifications

• Computer experience.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and language.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Virginia CNA license (required).
• CPR certification upon hire or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Relief Unit Secretary and assist on nursing unit.
• Answer telephone, take messages, and relay them courteously.
• Maintain and file medical records and forms.
• Prepare consults and charts for doctors; keep nurses station orderly.
• Assist with resident care tasks and ADL support as needed.
• Assist with supply orders and lab calendar; participate in chart audits.
