Job summary

Maniilaq Association in Kotzebue, Alaska is seeking Relief Advocate I/II/III to support the Family Crisis Center. This grant-funded role is non-exempt and requires flexible hours to meet crisis needs.

You will answer the Crisis Line, complete client intakes, refer clients, assist with operations, and participate in on-call rotations including S.A.R.T. Prior experience and First Aid/CPR are required or obtained soon after hire.

POSITION SUMMARY

Works on behalf of clients in the Crisis Center doing intakes, answering the Crisis Line, doing referrals, assisting with Crisis Center operations, and participating in the On-call rotation. Reports directly to the Family Crisis Center Manager.

This a grant funded position, subject to annual review pending appropriate funding levels.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Advocate I: High school diploma or equivalent. One-year relevant work experience. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must hold current First Aide/CPR or obtain within 90 days of hire. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and occasionally on short notice in response to crisis situations. Demonstrated ability to work with people. Familiarity with the Maniilaq Service Area, its culture, people. Complete either the 40 hour Victim Advocacy Training online or 30 Hour Understanding Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Driver’s license preferred. Criminal history printout required.

Advocate II: Same as Crisis Center Advocate I plus: one additional year of relevant work experience. 12 hours completed qualifying college credits can substitute for one-year work experience.

Advocate III: Same as Crisis Center Advocate II plus: one-year additional year of relevant work experience or 24 hours completed qualifying college credits can substitute for two years of work experience
