Job summary

Women In Need (Win) in New York is seeking a dependable Porter/Van Driver to keep facilities safe, clean, and welcoming for families experiencing homelessness. This dual-role involves transporting clients and staff and maintaining shelter interiors, grounds, and common areas to high standards.

You will monitor vehicle condition, perform routine checks, and assist with building maintenance while delivering excellent customer service and a safe environment for residents and staff alike.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a valid driver's license.
• Experience in custodial, maintenance, facilities, or building operations.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work.
• Ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport clients, staff, and materials using Win vehicles following all regulations.
• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of shelter interiors, common areas, offices, and exterior grounds.
• Monitor vehicle condition, perform routine checks, report maintenance issues or accidents.
• Manage trash removal, compactor operations, and general upkeep for a clean environment.
• Assist with building maintenance, including painting, minor plumbing, and carpentry tasks.
• Complete unit inspections and seasonal maintenance, including snow/ice removal.
• Repair or replace door locks and detectors, furniture, appliances, and other equipment as needed.
• Support resident move-ins and move-outs while providing excellent customer service.
