Job summary

Georgia-Pacific Albany Lumber mill seeks a Reliability Leader to drive a sustainable maintenance reliability program, ensuring regulatory and corporate standards for fixed equipment are met. You will lead inspection plans, maintenance strategies, and risk-based prioritization to improve uptime and asset integrity.

Qualifications include a Engineering degree or 4+ years in maintenance/reliability, plus experience with fixed equipment programs and people leadership.

  • Maintain metrics to measure progress and review with site leaders on cadence.
  • Provide engineering support for maintenance, troubleshooting, and cost estimation.
  • Lead RCA and FMEA efforts to identify root causes of mechanical integrity problems.

Georgia‑Pacific Building Products Division has an exciting opportunity for a Reliability Leader to enhance the maintenance and operations at our Albany, GA lumber mill. The candidate will be responsible for a Reliability and Continuous Improvement program to ensure that the facility complies with all company requirements and recommendations; regulatory requirements; and relevant codes, standards, guidelines and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) from industrial and professional organizations.

Using the industry's latest technology, Albany Lumber receives approximately 180 log trucks a day and can produce approximately 300 million board feet of lumber each year. The company produces a diverse range of high‑quality lumber products, including 2O4 and 2O6 boards essential to modern construction. Each piece begins with sustainably harvested Southern yellow pine. What You Will Do
  • Lead the site’s effort to build, implement, and manage a sustainable Maintenance Reliability program
  • Manage and prioritize site’s fixed equipment efforts based on risk, value, compliance, and business needs
  • Develop and implement inspection plans, maintenance strategies, and repair procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of fixed equipment
  • Develop and maintain site’s fixed equipment, short- and long-term plans
  • Site owner and steward of tools, enablers, associate data and information associated with fixed equipment inspection, testing, and preventative maintenance
  • Utilize best practices and standards that need to be implemented to standardize the site’s processes and execution of fixed equipment program
  • Maintain metrics to measure progress of the fixed equipment program and review that progress with site leaders on a standard cadence
  • Collaborate/partner and work with other site capabilities groups aligning with safety, environmental, and business vision
  • Provide technical expertise and support to operations, maintenance and capital project teams in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and equipment optimization
  • Participate in the design and construction of new fixed equipment to ensure maintainability, reliability, and safe operation
  • Assist in recognizing when equipment deficiencies occur, including controls to help ensure that equipment deficiencies do not lead to serious incidents
  • Ensure that personnel assigned to inspect, test, and maintain fixed equipment are appropriately qualified and have access to appropriate procedures for these activities
  • Provide engineering support for Maintenance and Operations (troubleshooting, problem solving, cost estimating and implementation of mechanical design solutions)
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) efforts to identify root causes of mechanical integrity problems
  • Active participation in design and implementation of Asset Improvement Strategies for systems to improve production and uptime
  • Lead and develop the site’s continuous improvement process
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or four (4+) or more years of maintenance/reliability experience in a manufacturing, industrial, chemical, oil/gas, energy, or military environment
  • Experience managing and executing fixed equipment or mechanical integrity programs
  • Experience leading and/or supervising employees
