Job summary

Packaging Corporation is seeking a Reliability Engineer for our Michigan papermill facility. The role focuses on maintaining and optimizing mechanical equipment to maximize uptime and efficiency in the paper production process.

You will plan and coordinate maintenance, lead troubleshooting, and develop preventive maintenance using RCM principles, while using CMMS to track history and data for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment, and components used in papermaking processes.
• Leadership abilities to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
• Problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to troubleshooting mechanical issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in industrial maintenance, preferably in the pulp and paper industry.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate mechanical maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted operation of papermaking equipment.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues using root cause analysis.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs using reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
• Oversee execution of maintenance tasks, including inspections, lubrication, alignment, and replacements, following safety and engineering standards.
• Utilize CMMS to manage work orders, track equipment history, and analyze maintenance data for trends and improvements.
• Collaborate with operations, reliability engineering, and procurement to support equipment upgrades and reliability initiatives.
• Participate in selection, installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment and upgrades; input on maintainability and reliability.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices; apply learnings to drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain documentation of maintenance activities, equipment specifications, manuals, and spare parts inventory.
