Job summary

Amazon's NTI team is seeking a Reliability Engineer to define what production‑ready means for the next generation of fulfilment technology. You will be the reliability SME for autonomous robots, sortation, and material handling systems, identifying gaps and driving design improvements that improve maintainability and cost across the network.

You will collaborate with engineering, vendors, and operations to establish standards, provide input on designs, and mentor the growing NTI team.

Qualifications

BS in mechanical or electrical engineering or 5+ years of related experience.
Experience applying reliability engineering principles including FMEA and life cycle analysis.
Experience developing and implementing maintenance programs for complex systems.
3+ years in manufacturing, logistics, automation environments.

Responsibilities

Lead reliability assessments and design reviews for new automation and robotics technologies, identifying gaps in maintainability, serviceability, and reliability and working with development teams to resolve them before deployment.
Define and maintain reliability standards, maintenance strategies, and serviceability requirements — updating them as new technology types reveal gaps.
Conduct FMEA, reliability modelling, and life cycle cost analysis, working with development teams on design improvements and tracking MTBF, MTTR, availability, and maintainability KPIs.
Partner with engineering teams, vendors, and stakeholders to represent RME reliability requirements during design, pilot, and full‑scale rollout phases.
Develop preventive maintenance programs, spare parts strategies, and maintenance documentation for new technologies.
Investigate equipment failures and performance degradation to identify root causes, drive solutions with development teams, and update standards to prevent re‑occurrence across the network.
Monitor reliability performance metrics, identify recurring issues, and drive improvements back into standards and readiness criteria.
Identify where maintenance processes are overly complex or inconsistent, and drive simplification through updated standards and common requirements.
