Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Reliability Engineer to support LRHW development within the System Engineering, Integration & Test organization. The role develops, coordinates, and conducts reliability studies, analyzes data, and proposes test methods to meet reliability objectives.

The engineer will lead FMECA, contribute to RAMT plans, and collaborate with engineers, program managers, and customers. A Bachelor’s in engineering and a Secret clearance are required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or STEM field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with reliability predictions and analyses.
• Experience with FRACAS and statistical data mining.
• Experience with the FMECA process.
• U.S. Military customer interface experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance – U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead FMECA analyses and produce reliability block diagrams and quantitative predictions.
• Create, execute, and track reliability growth plans; perform growth analysis to ensure program contracts are satisfied.
• Support design reviews, test events, and configuration control processes (ECP, CSB, CCB).
• Participate in CAB and FRB to drive root cause resolution.
• Analyze FRACAS trends, prioritize failure modes, and recommend corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
• Compile performance reports, process control statistics, and detailed reliability documentation for stakeholders.
• Collaborate daily with engineers, program managers, and customers, delivering clear analytical input and written reports.
• Conduct RAMT activities such as FMECA, HALT, and BIT demonstrations.
• Participate in detailed design sessions, technical interchange meetings, and program reviews, providing RAMT expertise.
• Review specifications, drawings, and Engineering Change Proposals.

This position develops, coordinates, and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer, and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM related field or relevant and equivalent work experience.
• Experience with performing reliability predictions and analyses.
• Experience with reliability FRACAS and statistical data mining.
• Experience with the FMECA process.

Desired Skills

• Experience as a project or team lead, building consensus among peers and effective relationships with team members.
• Ability to manage subcontractors in the Reliability field of expertise.
• Previous experience leading Reliability projects or teams.
• Strong electrical and mechanical systems background.
• Significant Reliability Engineering experience in the following:

  • Familiarity with industry standards (i.e., MIL-HDBK-217, Milt-STD-1629, MIL-STD-1543, MIL-HDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472)
• Active or Current Secret Security Clearance; US Citizenship Required

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
