Job summary

Rio Tinto Kennecott in Salt Lake City is seeking a Reliability Engineer to improve asset performance and manage reliability risks across a large industrial operation. You will apply reliability engineering and asset management methods to balance risk, cost and performance while supporting safe, reliable production.

You will analyze equipment data, lead defect elimination, and collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Technical and Asset Management teams to drive lifecycle improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Experience in reliability engineering, field engineering, maintenance engineering, asset management or related industrial environment.
• Knowledge of reliability methods like RCA, RCM, PMO, defect elimination or lifecycle cost analysis.
• Experience using maintenance/equipment data to support decisions, ideally via SAP or similar CMMS.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project coordination and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate defect elimination program and lead reliability improvement initiatives from definition through implementation and value tracking.
• Use RCA to identify causes, develop solutions and support corrective actions.
• Develop and improve maintenance tactics using RCM and PMO methodologies.
• Perform reliability studies, RBM and lifecycle cost analysis to support asset strategies and investments.
• Analyze data from CMMS such as SAP to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Monitor asset performance using process historians and condition data; improve data quality.
• Apply Pareto analysis to identify bottlenecks and communicate value of improvements.
• Support implementation and assurance of asset management systems and reliability practices; coach cross-functional teams.
