Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in the United States seeks a Reliability Product Approval Engineer to embed reliability into the NPD process for cold storage and ULT products, collaborating with R&D, QA, and Regulatory teams.

You will lead DFMEA, develop test plans, analyze failures, apply PoF, and drive scalable reliability programs, with up to 10% travel. Emphasis on safety, regulatory readiness, and data-driven design decisions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in reliability, product approval, or verification testing for complex electromechanical systems.
• 3+ years supporting design and development of mechanical/electromechanical products.
• HVAC/R, refrigeration, or thermal systems experience preferred.
• Experience with regulated product testing (UL, IEC, NSF, Energy Star, DIN).
• Hands-on test method development, accelerated life testing, and failure analysis.
• Experience with data acquisition systems and automated testing.
• Familiarity with Lean / PPI methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliability plans aligned with product requirements, milestones, and regulatory expectations.
• Define test strategies, protocols, and acceptance criteria for cold storage products.
• Support verification and validation testing with appropriate reliability coverage and data collection.
• Lead DFMEA activities and contribute to broader product risk management.
• Analyze failures and drive corrective actions based on field data and verification results.
• Apply Physics of Failure to anticipate degradation in mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Product Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory teams for traceability.
• Provide reliability expertise to cross-functional teams and mentor engineers.
• Travel up to 10% domestically.
