Job summary

Drax Group seeks a Reliability Engineer for our Aliceville pellet plant in Alabama. You will improve asset reliability, reduce downtime, and drive safety and efficiency with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams.

The role reports to the Plant Manager and focuses on implementing reliability strategies and continuous improvement across site assets. Ideal candidates have a degree in engineering, experience in industrial reliability or asset management, and strong root cause analysis and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering.
  • Experience in reliability, maintenance, or asset management in industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and reliability engineering principles.
  • Experience using CMMS and maintenance performance data.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence change and drive improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead reliability improvement initiatives across the plant.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Support outage planning and major maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with plant teams to improve asset performance and efficiency.
  • Monitor reliability KPIs and drive continuous improvement projects.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with standards.

About the Role

Are you passionate about improving equipment performance, reducing downtime, and driving operational excellence?


We're looking for a Reliability Engineer to join our team at our Aliceville pellet plant, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. In this role, you'll be responsible for improving the reliability and performance of plant assets, helping us deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.


You’ll work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities for improvement, implement reliability strategies, and support a culture of continuous improvement across the site.


What you'll be doing


  • Leading reliability improvement initiatives across the plant

  • Conducting root cause failure analysis and implementing corrective actions

  • Developing and enhancing preventive and predictive maintenance programs

  • Analyzing equipment performance data to identify trends and opportunities

  • Supporting outage planning and major maintenance activities

  • Working collaboratively with plant teams to improve asset performance and operational efficiency

  • Monitoring reliability KPIs and driving continuous improvement projects

  • Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with company standards


About you

You’ll be a proactive problem-solver with a passion for reliability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.


You’ll also have:



  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline

  • Experience in reliability, maintenance, or asset management within an industrial or manufacturing environment

  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and reliability engineering principles

  • Experience using CMMS systems and maintenance performance data

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • The ability to influence change and drive improvement initiatives


It would be great if you also have


  • Experience in pellet manufacturing, biomass, forestry products, pulp and paper, or heavy industry

  • Professional certifications such as CMRP or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)

  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies including vibration analysis and thermography

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
