Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will serve as the cornerstone of our Basis of Design (BOD) program, influencing how we document and manage technical standards across our global fleet of data centers. You'll work with internal and external teams to define, review, and release critical documentation that guides our infrastructure development. As an owner, you'll ensure our technical standards evolve to meet emerging needs while maintaining consistency across our rapidly growing infrastructure footprint.

Primary responsibilities include managing the end-to-end BOD release cycle, coordinating cross-functional reviews, and developing scalable processes for document management. You'll collaborate with engineering teams to capture design improvements and ensure technical requirements are clearly documented. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the quality and accessibility of our technical standards.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement of BOD standards and release processes across the organization
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to review and validate technical documentation
  • Provide high-quality guidance on documentation standards while working with global teams
  • Manage stakeholder communications and resolve escalations related to BOD releases
  • Oversee document control systems and version management

About The Team

The Data Center Design Engineering team at AWS consists of diverse technical experts working to design the next generation of data centers. We're committed to maintaining world-class documentation standards that enable our teams to deliver consistently excellent results. As an integral member of the team, you'll have the opportunity to directly impact our business and drive continuous improvements in how we manage technical standards globally.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • 8+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience with document management systems and technical writing
  • Knowledge of infrastructure design principles and documentation standards
  • Experience with GitLab, SmartSheets, version control systems, and collaboration tools
  • Background in data center infrastructure or similar technical environments

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
