Job summary

OG&E invites applications for a Relay Technician Apprentice/Journey in Oklahoma City. The role covers installation, testing, and maintenance of relay and control equipment across transmission, generation, and distribution substations.

You’ll work with other departments to complete projects and may provide expertise to external customers. The program advances from Apprenticeship to Journey level as performance and training are completed, with associated increases in responsibility and pay.

Qualifications

• Education/technical training as listed in requirements (Electrical/Electronics)
• Relevant hands-on training and aptitude for electrical systems
• Willingness to learn relay protection and control schemes

Responsibilities

• Modify/configure RTUs and related hardware/software
• Maintain records and reports as assigned
• Perform switching for tests and maintenance, including emergency repairs
• Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot relay equipment and protection schemes
• Assist in training junior technicians and engineering trainees
• Ensure safe work methods and adherence to procedures
• Conduct acceptance inspections and commissioning of relays and controllers
