Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is seeking a Relay Tech/ Transmission or Distribution II-IV with a focus on Protection and Controls (P&C) Technician.

The role involves installation, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, RTU, and telecom upgrades for HV substations. Candidates should have 5+ years in electrical testing and a BS in engineering or technical diploma, and be willing to travel with a valid license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electrical testing focused on protection and control.
• BS in Engineering/Tech or technical diploma or military electrical training.
• Experience with SEL, GE, ABB, Westinghouse relays.
• Experience with substation RTUs and telecom equipment.
• Experience in scoping, scheduling, budgeting for protection projects.
• NERC CIP familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment.
• Functional testing for protection and control circuitry in HV substations.
• RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients.
• Review and submit test reports for client/regulatory use.
• Interpret diagrams and configurations; flag discrepancies.
• Complete time/expense reports; maintain company vehicle.
