Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Relay Field Technician to join our Field Engineering team. You will execute commissioning and testing of protection and control schemes for electric utility substations and plant locations, including IEDs and SCADA interfaces.

You will perform end-to-end testing, lead technical tasks, and develop risk assessments while ensuring safety and compliance on diverse field sites. Strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in relay testing and commissioning in substations.
• Able to read One Line diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Proficient English communication in reading and writing.
• Ability to perform field work in varied environments and weather.

Responsibilities

• Red-lines design documents throughout the drawing set (Single Line, AC/DC Elementary, Wiring, Panel Arrangement, BOM).
• Performs End-To-End testing.
• Performs IED testing with automated test sets (Doble 6150, Omicron, Manta).
• Identifies risks associated with testing and commissioning.
• Develops test plans and risk assessments for protection & control schemes.
• Analyzes scope and drawings to create functional guidelines and risk assessments.
• Leads tasks within projects or provides technical/people leadership.
• Performs weekly site safety inspections.
• Supports company and customer policies and procedures.
