Job summary

Job Description:

Building Management and Oversight
  • Provide support and oversight to all staff on duty during assigned shift, including but not limited to housekeeping, maintenance, productions, and event coordinators; provide guidance and resolve operational issues and concerns; assist with special tasks as needed
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring facility activity, addressing safety concerns, and coordinating with University Police and other emergency personnel as needed
  • Open and close the facility according to established procedures
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify operational, maintenance, safety, and security concerns
  • Periodically monitor adjacent grounds and parking areas to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized use
  • Respond to facility emergencies, critical incidents, and facility disruptions; direct staff response efforts, coordinate resources, and ensure timely documentation and communication with supervisors
  • Uphold and enforce all university, departmental and facility policies, procedures, and standards
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, ADA requirements, and other applicable guidelines
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism, accountability, customer service, and operational excellence
Event & Facility Support
  • Serve as the facility management representative for meetings, conferences, and special events held in the facility
  • Collaborate with event staff, facility users, and clients to ensure successful event execution and exceptional customer experiences
  • Review event diagrams and set up requirements to ensure rooms, audiovisual equipment, and support services are prepared accurately and efficiently
  • Assist with room setups, event transitions, strikes, and equipment staging as needed
  • Monitor event operations and staff performance, providing real-time coaching and guidance to maintain service standards
  • Troubleshoot facility and audiovisual issues and coordinate solutions with appropriate departments
  • Ensure timely access to event spaces and provide responsive customer service to guests, clients, and campus partners
  • Assist hotel staff with addressing facility concerns presented during guest stays
Reporting & Documentation
  • Complete comprehensive shift reports detailing operational activities, staffing concerns, facility inspections, events, incidents, and maintenance issues
  • Prepare and submit incident reports, work orders, and required documentation in a timely and accurate mannerReport urgent situations, security concerns, and facility issues to appropriate leadership personnel
  • Manage Lost & Found operations, including documentation, retention, and disposal processes
Training & Development
  • Assist with onboarding and training of event operations staff
  • Assist in development, maintenance, and implementation of event operations training programs, manuals, reference materials, and operational procedures
  • Observe staff on shift and provide coaching, constructive feedback, and retraining as needed
Other Duties
  • Performs special projects, tasks, and other duties, as assigned, to support departmental needs

$18.93/HR; A shift differential is added to the 2nd shift

Required Qualifications:

A high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of building operations, facility management, and/or event management
  • General knowledge of audio-visual systems and event technology
  • Experience reviewing event diagrams and coordinating set-ups to meet client specifications
  • Proficiency with computers, scheduling software, and common business applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to creating a positive experience for guests, clients, and campus partners
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team-oriented environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement, and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision

Normal Work Schedule:

  • This is an evening shift; 4:00pm - 12:00am
  • Days off rotate to meet department needs
  • Working every other weekend is required

This position is eligible for Veteran’s preference.
