Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or related field (MSc, MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in reinsurance accounting, in a principal or senior role.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel, ERP systems, SQL, and other relevant financial software.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead bordereaux reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial reports for key business decisions.
  • Prepare high-level monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including management reports.
  • Analyze historical data to forecast future financial performance and build forecasting models.
  • Identify risks in financial processes and propose improvements for mitigating risk.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls; collaborate with auditors.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic initiatives and KPI development.
  • Manage financial projects and drive process improvements, including automation and data integration.
  • Communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders; mentor junior analysts.

The Reinsurance Reporting Principal plays a critical role in supporting complex financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting for the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of financial principles, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various cross-functional teams to drive strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:
  • Lead bordereaux reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial reports, providing insights to inform key business decisions.
  • Prepare high-level monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including management reports.
  • Analyze historical data to project future financial performance and prepare financial models for forecasting and planning.
  • Risk Management and Compliance:
  • Identify potential risks in financial processes and recommend improvements for mitigating those risks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during reviews and audits.
  • Strategic Support and Initiative Management:
  • Provide data-driven insights to support strategic initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and other complex projects.
  • Assist in the development of strategic business plans and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage and oversee assigned financial projects, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Process Improvement and System Integration:
  • Drive process efficiency improvements through the application of automation, AI, and advanced analytics.
  • Work with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration of financial systems and data reporting.
  • Lead initiatives to upgrade financial processes, ensuring they're scalable and adaptable to business needs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate closely with operations, IT, finance, and executive leadership to align financial plans with business goals.
  • Communicate complex financial data and insights to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts and team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field (MSc, MBA preferred).

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in reinsurance accounting, preferably in a principal or senior role.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects and providing strategic financial insights.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in advanced Excel, ERP systems, SQL, and other relevant financial software.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and regulatory frameworks.
