Howden Re, a global reinsurance broker, invites you to join our North America team in Edina, MN for an Accounting and Claims internship. You will assist with reinsurance accounting functions, review loss notices, and help move claims from notice to settlement while supporting client-facing work.

You'll gain exposure to treaty coverage, LAE treatment, and settlement tracking, while developing Excel-driven analyses and professional communication in a deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
• GPA 3.0+ required or higher.
• Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reinsurance accounting functions for selected client accounts.
• Receive loss notices, loss status updates and proofs of loss; forward to reinsurers.
• Review treaty coverage and contract wording for retention, limits, and LAE.
• Prepare/review loss calculations for accuracy and contract terms.
• Process claims transactions in accounting and claims systems.
• Track status of reinsurer settlements.
