Markel Corporation in Virginia is seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage monthly reinsurance cessions and related accounting. You will prepare GL entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and support monthly close and reporting.

The role collaborates with multiple departments to ensure accuracy and control. A Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and 1+ years' experience are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field required.
• 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in insurance and/or reinsurance preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail oriented.

Responsabilités

• Own the accuracy and completeness of monthly reinsurance cessions and related accounting.
• Prepare and upload general ledger and data warehouse entries, including adjusting journals.
• Perform monthly reinsurance balance sheet reconciliations and issue remediation.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Understand reinsurance treaty language for accounting requirements.
• Maintain SOX controls and support audits and internal reviews.
• Collaborate with Reinsurance Operations, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, IT, Finance, and others.
• Lead or assist with system enhancements, data pulls, and ad hoc reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
