Job summary

PCL Construction is hiring a Reinforcement Ironworker (Rebar) Helper for Abilene, TX. The role involves reading blueprints, cutting and placing rebar, and assisting with concrete work on a 5x10 schedule.

Candidates should demonstrate strong safety practices and hands-on experience with rotating equipment and forming processes. Pay ranges from $21.45 to $29.70 per hour based on experience, plus incentives and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.
• Determine quantities and placements of reinforcing rods from drawings.
• Select and place rebar and related materials per job specs.
• Place rods in forms and secure with wire and pliers.
• Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions and other crews.
• Cut reinforcing iron/rebar to specified lengths using tools.
• Assist with concrete placement and site layout as needed.
• Ensure proper permits and safety practices on site.

Pay Rate: $21.45 - $29.70 (based on experience)

Incentive Rate: $10.00 (will be combined with base rate)

Work Schedule:5x10's (subject to change)

• Practice safe work habits at all times and promote safety to others.


• Strong working knowledge of and experience working with rotating equipment.


• Perform quality work within a set schedule as determined by the project specifications.


• Accountable for all assigned tools and materials at all times.


• Assist immediate supervisor with future tasks to be completed.


• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.


• Determine the number, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.


• Selects type and size of reinforcing iron, rebar, and related materials according to the job specifications.


• Selects and places rods in forms, spacing and fastening them together using wire and pliers.


• Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.


• Cuts reinforcing iron and rebar to required lengths using hacksaw, bar cutters, or cutting torch according to site specific and industry standards.


• May reinforce concrete with wire mess.


• May weld reinforcing bars together using arc-welding equipment.


• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, or marking gauge.


• Ensure proper permits have been obtained and can read & understand all permits.


• Prioritize tasks according to job schedule and work sequence.


• Assist in concrete placement, industry carpentry, and site layout as the need arises.
