Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Therapy Technician to assist with patient preparation, mobility, and basic therapy activities under supervision. You will help maintain a safe, organized treatment area and support therapists in delivering high-quality patient care.

This role involves managing supplies, scheduling, and clerical tasks, while adhering to safety guidelines and participating in program activities and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting serving people preferred.
• One (1) year of therapy aide experience, some experience as a therapy aide or volunteer, or current enrollment in a 2 or 4 year therapy program preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BCLS) through the American Heart Association required.
• IL & IA Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training within 60 days of hire.
• IL & IA Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support therapists and patients by preparing treatment areas, setting up equipment, and ensuring all therapy spaces are clean, safe, and well stocked.
• Clean and sanitize therapy equipment, change linens between patients, and maintain organized supply and equipment storage.
• Assist with direct and indirect patient care activities under supervision, including mobility training, strengthening, and range-of-motion exercises.
• Contribute to smooth department operations by ordering and organizing supplies, assisting with scheduling and clerical tasks, and maintaining required logs and documentation.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives, departmental and hospital meetings, and support program activities such as home exercise preparation and material development.
• May assist with additional duties including mentoring volunteers, supporting audits, and other assigned tasks that enhance patient care and operational excellence.
