Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections seeks a Classification Officer at Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami Beach to assess and classify inmates, determining housing and program placements to support safety and rehabilitation.

This on-site role requires strong case management, data review, ACIS/OBIS familiarity, and collaboration with multiple departments; background checks and E-Verify are required. Extensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in case management using assessments, planning, coordination and evaluation.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing data.
• Experience applying laws, applicable rules and procedures.
• Experience or training in OBIS and related software.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience responding to grievances, inmate requests or other correspondence.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Four years’ experience in caseload management or data analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress and set goals.
• Develop comprehensive inmate management plans and identify needs and risks.
• Plan and coordinate targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work and services.
• Collaborate with various areas for optimal outcomes.
• Evaluate information sources to make informed decisions on inmate management.
• Maintain accurate inmate records in OBIS and other applications.
• Lead disciplinary hearings, make custody and reclassification recommendations.
• Ensure eligible inmates receive gain time awards.
