Job summary

ChristianaCare Rehabilitation Services, Speech Pathology Department, Newark campus, is recruiting for a Rehabilitation Aide to work full time. Hours are day shift, Monday through Friday, 8 hour/day.

You will provide clinical and administrative support in the Speech Pathology Department and related units within Rehabilitation Services. This role supports therapists, manages supplies, and assists with patient flow and scheduling.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with adult physical disabilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of routine physical, occupational, and speech procedures.
  • Knowledge of correct cleaning and infection control procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the therapists with feeding patients during objective swallowing studies (Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing).
  • Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly fashion, safe for patient care. Clean and prepare equipment for patient use.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment as it relates to the needs of the speech department.
  • Assist therapists in medical equipment/ supply ordering.
  • Monitor and help to maintain efficient patient flow within the department; assisting with scheduling, transport of ST equipment through out hospital as needed, and patient transport within the department and to Radiology as needed.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and to provide the care needed.
  • Submit work orders as needed to clinical engineering and facilities.
  • Assist clerical staff with clerical duties including, but not limited to, scheduling, faxing, filing, answering phones, and scanning.

As the Rehabilitation Aide, you will provide clinical and administrative support services in the Speech Pathology Department and any related units within the Rehabilitation Services department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an active position requir ing physical ability to safely perform duties including frequent walking, lifting, standing, pulling, bending, pushing related to patient transfers and needs within the department

Hourly Pay Range: $18.75 - $22.91This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
