Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Vernon State Hospital location is seeking a Rehab Therapy Tech IV to support the rehabilitation department. The role involves delivering complex therapeutic activities, guiding staff, and promoting recovery-oriented care for patients.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing treatment plans, instructing patients in self-care and life skills, and coordinating activities with community resources to support client progress and engagement.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience working with people who have mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Two years’ experience in the development of treatment and support plans for people with mental illness or developmental disabilities.
• Valid Texas driver license may be required; CPR certification or within six months of hire date is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in development, implementation, and execution of rehabilitation therapy programs.
• Instructs patients in self-care, independent living, and character-building skills.
• Trains Rehabilitation Technicians and provides guidance to staff as needed.
• Ensures transportation logistics and vehicle safety for off-campus activities.
