Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Rehabilitation Therapy Technician V for the San Antonio State Hospital. The role advances therapy activities, coordinates a hospital-wide program, and trains staff while documenting progress within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include a rehab-related associate degree (preferred) and 3+ years in mental health rehab. Applicants may work day shifts; telework is not available and a fingerprint background check is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with people who have mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Completion of an associate degree in a rehabilitation area preferred.
• Three (3) years’ experience in development of treatment and support plans for people with mental illness or intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a hospital-wide recreational activity program.
• Provide training for new Rehab Therapy Technicians and ongoing education.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies.
• Document progress in patient records and participate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead activity scheduling and patient instruction.
