Job summary

CHI Health Immanuel in Omaha, NE is seeking a PRN Rehabilitation Tech Aquatics to support aquatic therapy sessions under supervision of licensed therapists. You will set up equipment, lead community water exercise classes, and assist with treatments to help patients reach therapy goals.

The role includes clerical tasks, maintaining pool quality, and upholding safety and infection control policies; BLS certification and operator license required within timeframes.

Qualifications

• Nebraska Swimming Pool Operator License required within 90 days of start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association before start date.
• High School Graduate or GED preferred.
• Aquatics or Fitness background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead water exercise programs for the community according to established guidelines.
• Observe patients during treatments and notify Therapist of any distress or equipment malfunction.
• Prepare/position patients for treatment and obtain equipment; assist with treatment as directed by therapist.
• Perform clerical duties: class and patient registration, scheduling, charge entry, faxing and delivery of therapy notes/records.
• Maintain water chemistry and pool surroundings.
• Maintain department policies, safety, infection control and participate in mandatory programs.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The PRN Rehabilitation Tech Aquatics is a skilled technical worker who works under the supervision of, or according to detailed instructions of the Aquatic Therapy Supervisor and a licensed Therapy professional. The primary responsibilities of an Aquatic Rehab Technician are to lead exercise groups according to established protocols and assist with treatment programs for patients toward the achievement of the goals of the therapist by: setting up necessary treatment equipment, carrying out routine or assisting with complex treatments, maintaining the department in a clean orderly condition and participating toward the achievement of mission goals.

• Receives work assignments and information concerning the preparation for, and performance of class and therapy activities from the Aquatic Therapy Supervisor and designated therapists. May provide set up and supervision, as directed by a therapist, for routine treatments such as: gait training, exercise and the application of hot and cold packs; using techniques in a safe and acceptable manner.
• Observes patients during treatments and notifies Therapist of any physical distress or equipment malfunctioning.
• Prepares/positions patient for a treatment or evaluation, as directed by a therapist. Obtains necessary equipment, materials and supplies from storage areas and prepares them for use. Assist therapist in treatment regimen as needed.
• Leads water exercise programs for the community according to established guidelines and supervises open pool program.
• Performs clerical functions to include: class and patient registration, scheduling, charge entry, faxing, photocopying and delivery of therapy notes/records to the appropriate physician(s) or other hospital personnel. Periodically inventories supplies. Assists with ordering, stocking and cleaning of departmental equipment and supplies. Maintains water chemistry and pool surroundings.
• Maintains established department policies, procedures, and objectives, concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control. Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

The CHI Health Rehabilitation Care Aquatic Physical Therapy program offers individual treatment sessions with a physical therapist skilled in utilizing the unique properties of warm water to promote faster recovery from injury, illness, surgery or chronic conditions. Supported by the buoyancy of the 90-93 degree water, patients are able to perform therapies that increase strength and muscle tone, range of motion and mobility; all while decreasing pain and improving overall well being.
