Job summary

Montcare Bethesda in Bethesda, Maryland is seeking an Activities Assistant to plan, implement, and evaluate recreational activities that promote socialization and well‑being for residents. This full‑time role requires coordinating with therapy and nursing staff to tailor plans to individual rehabilitation goals and overall welfare.

You will assess resident needs, maintain records, and assist with daily living tasks while ensuring a safe, welcoming activity area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Recreation Therapy or related field preferred.
• 0 years of experience in healthcare or related field; training or certification in activities administration a plus.
• Ability to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with patients, residents and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a variety of recreational activities, including games, arts and crafts, and social events.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including therapy and nursing staff, to create individualized activity plans.
• Conduct assessments to identify patient and resident needs and preferences, and adjust activities accordingly.
• Maintain accurate records of activities and patient/resident participation.
• Assist with setup and cleanup of activity areas, ensuring a safe and inviting environment.
• Provide support to patients and residents with daily living tasks, such as transfers and ambulation.
