Job summary

The State of North Carolina - Commerce is seeking a Public Utilities Engineering Manager to lead the Rates & Services Section within the Public Staff Utilities Commission. The role requires highly technical engineering expertise and the ability to render expert opinions to the Director of the Energy Division and other officials.

It also involves supervising engineers, analysts, and staff while addressing electric and natural gas utility cost of service and tariff matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering.
• Five years of utility regulatory engineering experience.
• One year of lead worker/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform supervisory administrative duties and oversight, including assignment of work activities and ensuring project milestones and timelines are adhered to.
• Be responsible for ensuring utility rates are appropriately determined.
• Compliance to Commission approved tariffs.
• Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to engineers, analysts, and other team members.
