Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Commerce seeks a Public Utilities Engineering Manager within the Utilities Commission division. The role provides technical engineering expertise to the Energy Division and directs the Rates & Services Section, supervising engineers and analysts to ensure compliant tariffs and accurate rate design.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, mentoring engineers, and delivering expert testimony in hearings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Experience drafting and presenting technical documents and expert testimony.
• Strong knowledge of electric and gas utility cost of service, rate design and tariffs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise administrative duties and oversee project milestones.
• Ensure utility rates are properly determined and tariffs comply with approved rates.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to engineers, analysts and staff.
• Lead and supervise lead engineers, front-line and adjunct staff and consultants.
