Newly Weds Foods in the Chicago area is seeking a Regulatory Specialist to provide regulatory and technical information to internal and external customers for products, ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, labeling, and global standards.

Based at our Bryn Mawr HQ in Chicago with a hybrid schedule (four days onsite, one day remote per week), the role offers growth through exposure to domestic and international regulatory processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or related discipline.
• 1–3 years’ experience in the food industry preferred.
• Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Effective project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

• Assess and process customer requests for technical documentation in line with NWF policies and regulations.
• Support international regulatory compliance initiatives for global markets.
• Write compliant FDA ingredient statements and apply USDA labeling regulations.
• Participate in continuous improvement of technical information handling.
• Analyze inquiries trends and report risks or opportunities to management.
• Review and document procedures as directed by Regulatory Management.
• Provide training and presentations for employees and customers as needed.

Job description

Are you ready to turn your food science knowledge into a regulatory career with exposure to FDA, USDA, labeling, and global compliance?

As the Regulatory Specialist, you will provides regulatory and technical information to internal and external customers for the products manufactured and sold by Newly Weds Foods, in accordance with government regulations and NWF Policies and Procedures.

This position is based at our HQ in Bryn Mawr (Chicago)and follows a hybrid schedule of four days onsite and one day remote per week. No relocation assistance offered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assess and process customer requests for technical documentation efficiently and accurately in accordance with NWF policies and current regulations. Technical information includes, but is not limited to, product specifications, allergen forms/questionnaires, formulas, religious or dietary certifications, customized response letters and maintenance of online portals.
• Support international regulatory compliance initiatives including export requirements, ingredient reviews, labeling compliance, and customer documentation for global markets.
• Proficiently write compliant FDA ingredient statements, fully understand and apply USDA labeling regulations and be knowledgeable of retail food labeling regulation and guidance.
• Support continuous improvement activities associated with technical information requests and department objectives; coordinate implementation with Regulatory Management.
• Analyze work performed and report to upper management the emerging trends in requests, potential areas of improvement, or risk/impact of the inquiries with respect to NWF policy & procedure.
• Review and document procedures as directed by Regulatory Management.
• Provide training and presentations for NWF employees and customers as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in food science or related discipline
• 1-3 years’ experience in the food industry preferred
• Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving, and organizational skills
