Job summary

The State of Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, & Licensing (DIAL) seeks a Bureau Chief (Public Service Manager 2) in the Health and Safety Division, Des Moines. You will lead the Acute and Continuing Care Bureau, oversee complaint investigations, and ensure survey activities meet federal and state requirements.

Strong organizational and leadership skills are essential. Candidates with healthcare or regulatory administration experience will thrive while driving data-driven decisions

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with six years of senior-management experience.
• Ten years of full-time management-level work in finance, human resources, engineering, law, regulation, data processing, or program research or evaluation.
• Combination of education and experience per state guidelines, including relevant graduate study or professional development.
• Current experience in the state executive branch is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervising bureau personnel including hiring, promotion, discipline, work assignments, evaluation, and mentoring.
• Ensuring procurement, human resources, and IT compliance with state laws.
• Analyzing operational concerns and implementing timely, economical solutions.
• Implementing metrics to enable data-driven decision-making.
