Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Research Associate in Everett, WA to support regulatory DART studies in rats and rabbits. You will perform a wide range of technical procedures, collect samples, and ensure GLP-compliant data handling in a fast-paced vivarium environment.

The role includes necropsy support, fetal collection, and collaboration with Study Directors and Veterinary Services. A scientific BA/BS is preferred, with ALAT as a plus, and there is a strong emphasis on accuracy and continuous

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with animals in research or a regulated environment is preferred.
• Ability to perform technical procedures on laboratory animals (restraint, injections, blood draws, urine collection, catheterization, anesthesia, tissue collection, fetal collection and assessment).
• Working knowledge of GLP standards and the ability to perform procedures in compliance with GLP requirements.
• Intermediate computer skills including Office suite, Project, InfoPath and Access.
• Ability to adapt to new software/tools used in research environments.
• English proficiency to read and interpret SOPs and write routine reports.
• Basic math skills for interpreting data and calculations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task across studies.

Responsibilities

• Support the execution of regulatory DART studies in rats and rabbits.
• Observe animals and report changes in health or behavior.
• Perform study procedures in compliance with protocols and GLP requirements.
• Collect biological samples (blood, urine) from laboratory animals.
• Administer test materials and treatments as specified.
• Assist with anesthesia, catheter placement, and other procedures.
• Assist with reproductive and developmental data collection.
• Perform fetal collection and tissue/organ assessments.
• Conduct necropsy activities as required.
• Perform technical procedures on various animals (mice, rats, canines, non-human primates).
• Operate lab equipment and collect specimens and data.
• Train staff on animal procedures.
• Monitor study progress for adherence to timelines and quality standards.
• Create/revise SOPs related to animals and procedures.
• Document study procedures/results per GLP and internal standards.
• Support study supervisors with sample/data collection.
• Cross-train and develop skills across animal research functions.
• Coordinate with Study Directors, Veterinary Services and Operations to resolve issues.
• Identify and resolve problems using practical reasoning.
• Interpret diverse instructions to carry out activities accurately.
• Maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
