Job summary

State of Oklahoma seeks a Legal Advisor to the Commissioner to serve as the primary legal and regulatory advisor. You will perform complex legal research, draft proposed Commission orders, and provide informed recommendations to assist the Commissioner in fulfilling official duties.

The role requires strong writing, analytical skills, and the ability to quickly grasp evolving regulatory matters within the Commission’s jurisdiction.

Qualifications

  • Substantive legal research and analysis in regulatory matters.
  • Ability to draft Commission orders, findings, conclusions, and legal memoranda.
  • Strong legal writing, judgment, and strategic advisory skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts extensive legal, regulatory, and policy research within the Commission’s jurisdiction.
  • Reviews pleadings, testimony, exhibits, briefs, and orders; identifies issues and provides analysis and recommendations.
  • Drafts proposed Commission orders, findings, conclusions, and other legal documents for the Commissioner.
  • Monitors current events and regulatory developments and advises on potential impacts.
  • Prepares briefing materials and assists in Commission meetings, hearings, and conferences.
  • Coordinates with divisions, agencies, and stakeholders; responds to inquiries about proceedings and rulings.
  • Represents the Commissioner at meetings, committees, and regulatory proceedings as assigned.

Education

Juris Doctor degree or licensure to practice law in the State of Oklahoma
