Job summary

Luxoft in Troy, MI is seeking a Vision Systems Technician to support development and testing of automotive camera systems and situational awareness solutions. You will troubleshoot, build test fixtures, retrofit vehicles, and collaborate with teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities include installing products in test vehicles, preparing BOMs for in-vehicle testing, assembling harnesses, soldering PCBAs, and maintaining test workstations. A strong electronics background is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and design schematic circuits.
• Must be able to use electronic equipment and tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply).
• Must be able to use computation packages (Word, PowerPoint, email).
• Must have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install the Customer's products in the test and data capture vehicles.
• Follow up on the vehicle retrofit plan, including timing and budget estimations.
• Coordinate with other Customer teams or suppliers for development/integration of new tools.
• Participate in the setup definition (BOM) for In-Vehicle testing and data logger requirements.
• Select appropriate components for tasks.
• Create or update documentation related to system usage and setup architecture.
• Maintain task and delivery planning.
• Support test engineers in troubleshooting equipment and systems.
• Soldering tasks to repair/rework or update camera ECUs/PCBs.
• Build various harnesses.
• Design and build ECU flash programming fixtures and follow-up tests/repairs.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot system test engineering workstations.
• Support the team with test drives.
• Apply 5S.

Job description

• The mission of the Vision Systems Product Line is to be the World Leader for Vision Systems within the automotive industry by developing innovative camera systems and providing situational awareness solutions using cutting-edge technology. Our Technician will support the development and testing of our systems at various stages of the program. Among other tasks, the technician will contribute to the team by troubleshooting, building test fixtures, and performing vehicle retrofit as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install the Customer's products in the test and data capture vehicles
• Follow up on the vehicle retrofit plan, which includes timing and budget estimations.
• Coordinate with other Customer teams or suppliers for the development/integration of new tools for the required setup.
• Participate in the setup definition (BOM) to be used for In‑Vehicle testing, scene capture and data logger requirements based on the actual Customer's standard and/or new technologies.
• Select the most appropriate component/supplies for various tasks.
• Create or update the documentation related to usage and setup architecture of the system.
• Maintain the planning of tasks and deliveries.
• Support the test engineers in troubleshooting test equipment and systems
• Soldering tasks to repair, rework or update camera ECUs / PCBs
• Build various harnesses
• Design and build ECU flash programming fixtures via in‑circuit test interface. Develop post‑build follow‑up, tests and repairs of these fixtures.
• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot system test engineering workstations.
• Support the team with test drives
• Apply 5S

Mandatory Skills Description

Education/Training

• Associate's Degree in Electronics or related field

Skills and Abilities

• Shall be able to read and design schematic circuits.

Professional Experience

• 5 years' experience in a similar role, experience with soldering, repair/rework of PCBAs, wiring, and test setups.
• The person must be able to demonstrate a level of commitment, initiative and quality of workmanship required within an R&D Environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Confident, articulate, self‑motivated, determined & energetic.
• Self‑starter, motivated individual who can work alone, with little supervision.

• Experience in using National Instruments PXI hardware is a plus.
• Automotive experience preferred
• Experience with vision systems (camera, imager technology, radar, lidar) preferred
• Shop tool experience (band saw, grinder, pedestal drill, mill, lathe, etc.) preferred
• 3D printing /CNC machining experience preferred
