Job summary

TSMG Holding is expanding its Field Operations team in Palo Alto, CA. The role involves assembling, testing, and repairing hardware for Street View systems and other camera/geolocation platforms.

You’ll support in-field installations, remote data collection, and collaboration with engineering teams. We seek candidates with 2–3 years of experience, high school diploma or equivalent (B.E./B.Tech preferred), and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Educational requirement: High School or equivalent; engineering degrees preferred.
• 2-3 years of relevant field experience.
• Ability to travel and operate vehicles; valid driving record.
• Comfortable with rapid changes and learning on the job.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and disassemble systems in-house and in-field on vehicles.
• Troubleshoot and replace hardware components such as computers and cameras.
• Provide remote support for vehicle fleet and collect data via phone/video conference.
• Support engineering teams with test and data collection projects.
• Follow guidelines to repair vehicles locally or via remote support.
• Refurbish parts to ensure quality.
• Prototype and test client-designed equipment like cameras and geolocation gear.
• Train technicians on new camera systems.
• Assemble, test and repair hardware of Street View systems.
• Troubleshoot and replace proprietary components.
• Remote support for SV systems with data collection.

Job description

We are looking to expand our client's Field Operations team and your skills are needed.

Field Technicians have skills with ability to assemble equipment, part maintenance and replacement, refurbishment (terrestrial, Aerial and other hardware tools/platforms). Handling & operating hardware equipment, tools (mechanical tools, soldering irons, etc) & safety gears. Skills to manage forklift will be an added asset.

Requirements

• Familiarity with various testing techniques and great hardware troubleshooting skills
• Hardware troubleshooting, installation and warehouse management
• Familiarity with vehicle parts, computer parts , camera parts, PCB etc
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to operate and communicate effectively with people at all levels of the business
• Comfortable with a rapidly-changing environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Remote support for vehicle fleet, including walking operators through system function tests and collecting relevant data over the phone
• Support engineering teams with test and data collection projects
• Provide support & Repair: Follow the guidelines as given in the helpdesks to repair all vehicles coming for repair locally or by remote support
• Refurbishment: Ensure the refurbishment is done for all the parts
• Prototyping and testing advanced Client-designed equipment such as high-resolution cameras, mechanical frames, cables and overall geolocation equipment
• Train technicians to support all new camera systems once they are formally rolled into operations
• Assembling,testing and repairing hardware of proprietary Street View systems
• Troubleshooting and replacing various proprietary computer and camera components
• Remote support for SV systems, including walking operators through system function tests and collecting relevant data over the phone or video conference
  
  
  

Other Requirements

• Educational Requirement High School or equivalent, [B.E, B.Tech - Preferred]
• 2-3 years of relevant work experience
• Ability to travel, often on short notice
• Clear driving record (MVR) and ability to operate motor vehicles
  
  
  

Tools expertise

• Expert knowledge of and experience with Hand tools, light power tools, Types and application of hardware, Measuring tools and techniques, Basic automotive repair
• Understanding of wiring diagrams (preferred but not required), Electronics repairs (preferred but not required)
• Basic knowledge of Linux (preferred but not required)
• Working knowledge of Ticketing systems, Gmail and Google Calendar, Basic spreadsheet tasks (Google Sheets, preferred)
