Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Bangor, ME is seeking a Registration Representative to greet patients, enter demographic and financial information, and support initial encounters across hospital services. This on-site role involves coordinating with Financial Counseling, Scheduling and clinical areas to ensure complete patient encounters.

The position offers 2–3 weeks of paid training, benefits, and a pay scale of $16.00–$29.00 per hour, with eligibility for a $3,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants,

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 6+ months in an office or customer service role (phone or in person).
  • Beginner level of Windows applications.
  • Able to work 36 hours per week in 3, 12-hour shifts (Mon–Fri 6:30am–7:00pm).
  • Able to work one weekend per month.
  • Flu vaccination required where applicable and in line with state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors and patients in person or by phone/video with excellent service.
  • Enters and updates demographic and financial information for registration.
  • Obtains applications, confirms signatures, and copies/scans documents.
  • Provides patients with financial responsibility information and collects balances.
  • Coordinates with Financial Counseling, Scheduling and clinical areas to complete the encounter.
  • Provides wayfinding and hospital information as requested.
  • Coordinates admission needs, bed assignments and tracking boards.
  • Meets audit accuracy standards and resolves issues from worklists.
  • Maintains a safe environment per NLH policies; reports hazards and violations.
  • May perform other duties as requested.

TheRegistration Representativesare often the first point of contact upon patient arrival and are required to have excellent customer service skills. This position will input patient information received in person or over the phone, to update the hospital system for patient demographic, insurance, financial obligation, or appointment related data for a variety of practice and hospital services.

Our office is located at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, 489 State St, Bangor, ME, 04401.

We offer 2 - 3 weeks of paid training. The hours during training will be based on your schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.Training will be conducted on - site.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Greets visitors and patients in person, or communicates by telephone or video conferencing, upholding excellent customer service
  • Enters and updates patient demographic and financial information, ensuring the patient is fully registered as early in the process as possible
  • Obtains appropriate applications and forms, confirming signatures are on file, Photocopies / scans documents as needed
  • Provides patients with financial responsibility information and collects patient liabilities, documents amount in the appropriate fields, and balances the cash box daily
  • Works with partnering departments (Financial Counseling, Scheduling, Financial Clearance, and clinical areas) to ensure all aspects of the patient's encounter are completed as needed
  • Provides wayfinding instructions and assists with hospital information as requested
  • Coordinates patient admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards where applicable
  • Meets or exceeds audit accuracy standards. Works worklists and error reports timely, and proactively seeks assistance to resolve as needed
  • Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and / or protocol when involved or observed
  • May perform other duties upon request

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 6+ months of experience in an office setting, customer service setting (over the phone OR face to face), phone support role or call center environment
  • Beginner level of proficiency with Windows applications
  • Ability to work 36 hours per week in 3, 12 hour shifts Monday - Friday from 6:30am - 7:00pm
  • Ability to work one weekend per month
  • Full Flu vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate Flu booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance. Candidates must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital OR medical setting
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures and patient care settings
  • Previous experience working for Northern Light Health
