Job summary

TriState Health is seeking a Registration Clerk to coordinate the patient admission process, gather and verify information, and pre-register inpatients and outpatients. The role requires handling insurance verification and patient identity, inputting data into hospital systems, and routing calls, all while delivering excellent customer service.

The position may require working on weekdays, weekends, evenings, or nights, with a schedule noted as Thursday through Saturday 9am–9:30pm.

Qualifications

  • Medical terminology knowledge, healthcare exposure preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Job description

The schedule for this position is Thursday, Friday, Saturday 9am - 9:30pm.

Job Summary:

The TriState Health Registration Clerk is responsibility for the coordination of an effective, efficient admission process for all patients by receiving referrals, gathering and verifying pertinent information, and completing necessary procedures to pre-register and admit inpatients and/or outpatients. The position compiles and inputs statistical information into appropriate hospital systems, screens and routes hospital phone calls, verifies insurance and identity of patients. Excellent customer service skills a must. May work under stressful circumstances at times. Must meet established attendance standards and adhere to hospital/department dress code, including wearing ID badge. May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts and may be required to work on religious and/or legal holiday.

Education and Training:
  • Medical terminology and previous healthcare experience preferred but not required; High school diploma or equivalency (GED) required.
Experience:
  • 1 to 2 years customer service experience preferred; Experience with general office equipment; fax, telephone, copy machine, computer required.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to assess and observe patients.
  • Ability to communicate face to face and via telephone with patients, families, physicians and co-workers.
  • Ability to type and use telephone.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems independently.
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to adapt to various programs/systems.
