Job summary

St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport seeks a Registrar to handle patient registration, greet visitors, collect demographics, and explain forms.

You will process payments, prepare admission paperwork, and coordinate with clinical staff while maintaining PHI privacy. Responsibilities include delivering excellent customer service, directing patients to the right locations, and ensuring accurate documentation for billing and records.

Qualifications

• One year related experience.
• Basic clerical, computer and keyboarding skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors, responds to questions/concerns and directs them to appropriate location.
• Collects and enters all necessary demographic, clinical, billing and insurance information from patients or responsible parties.
• Explains processes and forms to patients prior to securing signatures and ensures that all documents are properly signed and witnessed as required.
• Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles.
• Produces admission paperwork on each patient and distributes in a timely manner to appropriate departments/staff.
• Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
• Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information(PHI).
• Other Duties as assigned

Position Summary:

The Registrar performs clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration.
