Responsibilities

The Registrar-HBC performs registration in computerized systems, with a high level of computer experience. Performs pre-registration, enters date-of-service upon patient arrival and arrives patient in EMR. This role obtains current demographic and insurance information at each patient encounter, verifies information is correctly entered into all systems. This position obtains payment from patients per Norton Healthcare collection policy. The Registrar-HBC sends missed appointment letter to patients, has knowledge of insurance carriers and secures referrals to PCP or specialist if needed. This position schedules patient appointments in electronic scheduling system, diagnostic tests and consults. This role secures pre-certs/authorizations for diagnostic tests, admissions and transfers. The Registrar-HBC answers in-coming telephone calls, takes messages, which are prioritizes and routed appropriately. This role provides exceptional customer, coordinates correspondences, files appropriately in patient chart and assists with chart preparation.
