Pikeville Medical Center Inc. is seeking an Administrative Registration professional to handle patient intake, registration, and transfer processes. You will gather personal, demographic, and insurance information to ensure accurate records and smooth financial reimbursement.
The role requires basic computer skills, familiarity with Word and Excel, and a high school diploma. Responsibilities include bedside registration, data entry for labs, and assisting patients with financial questions.
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs activities related to registering, admitting, or transferring patients to or within the medical center. Documents and processes records related to the registration process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Registers patients being admitted to the medical center on an inpatient or outpatient basis; gathering personal, demographic, and insurance information from patients or patient representatives, employees, physician offices or insurance companies.
2.Performs bedside registration to patients throughout the medical center using a portable technology.
3.Documents and processes all records related to patient’s registration for financial reimbursement including verifying insurance, copays, deductibles and checking medical necessity requirements on ordered tests and procedures.
4.Provides and assists patient or guarantor with completing Financial Assistance Application(s) after hours.
5.Inputs orders into system for labs and other departments as necessary.
6.Performs up front collections including co-payments and deductibles.
7.Provides coverage for Bed Placement, utilizing the electronic bed placement system.
8.Assist with Preregistration duties when needed.
9.Assists in improving organizational performance, and building good working relationships with all areas and disciplines with the medical center systems.
10.Interprets doctor’s orders and contacts physician/office’s as needed for orders or clarification. General knowledge of medical procedures.
11.Conducts quality assurance checks of the charts including performing corrections on registration errors.
12.Performs follow up duties related to obtaining Hospital Consent, Important Message
From Medicare and Medicare Outpatient Observation Notices.
13.Assists cashier with collection of patient valuables when requested.
14.Escorts and/or assist transporting patients in wheelchairs to areas of testing.
15.Able to work weekends, and various shifts when assigned or needed.
16.Work requires daily face to face interaction with PMC patients and co-workers.
17.Adheres to dress code.
18.Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees and assist other departments as needed.
20.Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.
21.Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.
22.Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and families with respect and dignity.
23.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Experience with general office equipment. Computer skills required. Word and Excelsoftware preferred. Medical terminology class preferred.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
High school diploma or equivalency required. High school courses with business emphasis or specialized vocational or technical training preferred. 2 years job related experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in well lighted business office environment the majority of the time
There is a potential for being at risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals when working. Information regarding hazards and protective measures along with training on handling and storage of hazardous materials will be provided prior to initial assignment to work with hazardous chemicals, whenever the hazard changes, and on an annual basis.
