Job summary

Centerpoint Health - Paris Hospital is seeking a Registrar to collect patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services, expedite the registration process, and provide a positive first impression of the hospital to our patients and families.

You will verify benefits, obtain precertifications, explain forms, and collaborate with admitting staff to arrange placement, while guiding patients through financial responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; Associate degree preferred.
• Handle with Care certification required within 30 days of orientation and maintained annually

Responsibilities

• Obtain and enter patient demographic, billing, and clinical information timely and accurately.
• Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
• Meet with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
• Communicate with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow-up

What We're Looking For

The Registrar collects patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services. Collects insurance, co-pay, and deductibles at Point of Service. Quickly and efficiently expedites the registration process. Provides a positive first impression of the hospital to the public.

How You'll Contribute

• Ensure that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
• Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
• Meet with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
• Communicate with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
• Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow-up

Schedule: Part Time / PRN: Must have flexible schedule.

Hours will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
