RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Hospital Registrar for the Emergency Dept Access Service at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ. This full-time, night shift position handles patient registration, verifies insurance, and supports admissions, transfers, and discharges in a fast-paced environment.

Required knowledge of medical terminology and strong typing/computer skills. Preferred HS Diploma, Spanish fluency, and 1 year of Patient Access experience.

Job Overview

A hospital patient registrar collects patient information and performs several functions, from verifying insurance to executing admissions, transfer, and discharge procedures. This professional must remain calm and efficient since work is often performed in a fast-paced environment where time is of the essence.

Qualifications

Required:

• Knowledge of medical terminology


• Good typing and computer skills

Preferred

• Fluent in Spanish


• 1 year of previous Patient Access experience

Scheduling Requirements

• Full-Time, hourly position 37.5 hours per week


• On-site at Trinitas Regional Medical Center Williamson Street Campus


• Shift: 7 PM -8 AM (12.5 hour shift) 3 days per week.


• Week A: Monday, Tuesday, & Saturday


• Week B: Sun, Thursday, & Friday

Essential Functions

• Experience in a hospital patient registration setting, doctors office, handling patients scheduling, obtaining pre-certifications, authorizations and referrals or patient services environment strongly preferred.


• Previous experience in a census management, assigning beds, position.


• Previous experience in a patient services environment billing/collections-must have a working knowledge of more than one provider such as Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs and others .


• Experience in completing medical assistance application, family care, PEs, PAICs or charity care.


• Experience in a customer service related environment preferred.


• Well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and communicate with persons of varying acuities.


• Must be able to work with the public and maintain poise under difficult situations at all times.
