Job summary

Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Veterinary Technician for Surgery. This full-time role offers 4 ten-hour shifts per week, including Saturdays, with compensation of $22-28/hr depending on experience and a $1500 signing bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments, diagnostics, stabilization, and comprehensive nursing care during the surgical process.
  • Partner closely with board-certified surgeons to prepare for and assist with advanced soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
  • Utilize technical skills including patient restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, medication administration, drug calculations, diagnostic imaging, CT studies, and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Prepare patients, surgical suites, and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.
  • Communicate with clients by providing updates, reviewing discharge instructions, and supporting a positive client experience.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support teams to deliver exceptional patient care and foster a positive hospital culture.
  • Continue developing technical expertise while supporting additional surgical and hospital responsibilities as needed.

Schedule: Full Time | 4 Ten Hour Shifts Per Week | 1st Shift | Includes Saturdays
Compensation: $22-28/hr, Dependent On Experience | Higher Wages Available For Candidates With VTS Credentials | Weekend Shift Differential $1.50/hr

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will:
