Job description

Are you interested in working as a school nurse with students in public, private, parochial, elementary, and high schools? We are currently seeking Registered Nurses to work in a school setting. In this position, you will cover any acute care needs in the school (including the three "B's" of school nursing - bumps, bruises, and bellyaches) and are community-oriented, including providing health information to students, teachers, principals, and parents.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Develop care plans for students with ongoing conditions
  2. Consult with teachers, school administrators, and other school staff regarding student care
  3. Administer medication as required by doctors' orders
  4. Collaborate with school personnel and parents
  5. Provide emergency treatment as needed to staff and students
  6. Monitor student immunization records
  7. Educate students and staff on health procedures
  8. Perform hearing, vision, and other health screenings
Skills:
  1. State of Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license
  2. Previous school nursing/substitute nursing experience
  3. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  4. Knowledge of school laws and policies
  5. BLS/CPR and First Aid certifications
  6. Knowledge of state health regulations
