Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a part-time Respiratory Therapist to provide care for patients with pulmonary and cardiopulmonary disorders in emergency, intensive care, and therapeutic settings. You will monitor equipment, participate in quality assurance, and collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans.

Responsibilities include performing diagnostics, delivering therapies such as CPAP/BIPAP, teaching patients, supervising interns, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a Respiratory Therapist Educational Program accredited by the CAAHEP.
• Current state licensure as a respiratory therapist.
• NBRC registration examination requirements completed.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
• Comprehensive knowledge of therapy procedures for patients from pediatric to geriatric.
• Ability to work collaboratively and with minimal supervision.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, examines and assesses patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
• Consults with physicians to develop patient treatment plans and creates therapy programs.
• Performs diagnostic tests such as measuring lung capacity and blood gas analysis.
• Delivers chest physiotherapy, aerosol medications and non-invasive therapies (CPAP/BIPAP); may assist ventilated patients.
• Monitors and records progress of treatment.
• Instructs and monitors respiratory therapy interns during rotations.
• Teaches patients how to use treatments.
• Operates and maintains respiratory equipment and reviews equipment and supplies.
• Maintains professional knowledge through workshops and publications; may conduct in-service training.
• Participates in departmental QA and develops policies to improve processes and reduce waste.
• Maintains all documentation in paper and electronic formats.
• Performs other related duties as required.
