Job summary

UW Health SwedishAmerican in Rockford, IL is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (NICU). This 90% FTE role involves 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays, 6:30am-7:00pm, at UW Health Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available.

Eligible for shift differentials and a comprehensive benefits package. Minimum requirements include CoARC-accredited program completion, IL RCP license, NBRC RRT, and BLS; PALS/NRP and NPS credentials or eligibility

Qualifications

• CoARC-accredited respiratory therapy program graduate required.
• 2 years staff therapy experience in neonatal/pediatric critical care preferred.
• RCP license in Illinois and NBRC RRT credential required.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized respiratory care for critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients as part of the NICU team.
• Apply advanced neonatal and pediatric respiratory therapies.
• Support critical care transport operations with expert respiratory assessment and intervention.
• Contribute to education and professional development within the team.

Work Schedule:

90% FTE, 12 hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. 6:30am-7:00pm You will work at the UW Health Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL.

Pay:

$36.99 - $55.49 / hr

We are seeking a Registered Respiratory (NICU) Therapist to:

• Provide specialized respiratory care for critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients as part of a highly collaborative NICU team dedicated to exceptional patient outcomes.
• Apply advanced clinical expertise in neonatal and pediatric respiratory therapies.
• Support critical care transport operations, delivering expert respiratory assessment and intervention during neonatal ground transport.
• Contribute to a culture of clinical excellence through interdisciplinary collaboration, patient and family education, and ongoing professional development.

Additional components of compensation include impressive shift differentials - $3.50/ hr evening, $4.50/ hr night, and $3.75/ hr weekend shift differential as applicable for hours worked.

Other additional components of compensation may include:

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) Accredited Program for Respiratory Therapy. Required

Work Experience

• 2 years experience as a staff therapist, including work with neonatal and/or pediatric critical care patients. Preferred
• Experience working in a patient transport environment. Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the state of Illinois (within 90 days of passing test for new grads) Required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Required
• Basic Life Support/CPR Certification. Required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire. Required
• Neonatal Pediatric Specialty (NPS) Certification or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire. Required
