Responsibilities

The RCPIII - Neonatal Respiratory Care Practitioner performs acute clinical care to neonates/newborns, including technical procedures requiring independent judgment, common sense, and initiative. The practitioner applies prescribed procedures, treatments, and tests to neonatal and pediatric patients in a safe and professional manner. The Neonatal RCP is responsible for delivering all respiratory care in the Perinatal area (NICU, Nursery, Labor and Delivery, and ER) as required.

Qualifications
Education and Work Experience

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a graduate of a JRCTE-approved program for Respiratory Therapy; a two-year program is preferred.
  • An Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC or a CRT with a minimum of two (2) years NICU experience.
  • May be CRT or RRT that has completed NICU orientation at the facility NICU under the guidance of the NICU Coordinator.
  • Must be currently licensed by the State as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Possess a Perinatal/Pediatric Specialty Certificate from NBRC (preferred).
  • Current certification in BCLS, NRP, PALS, and ACLS (upon hire).
  • Additional credentials such as CPFT, RPFT, ACCS are preferred.
Experience / Knowledge
  • At least two (2) years of general respiratory care experience in an acute care hospital under medical direction.
  • Two (2) years of neonatal respiratory care experience in an autonomous role in a Level II or Level III NICU or completion of NICU training at the facility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and nurses regarding patient care.
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with hospital personnel.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with patients and visitors.
  • Ability to complete all required documentation accurately and professionally.
