Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver respiratory care, testing, and education under physician direction. You will actively participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships with patients and staff.

The role requires strong knowledge of respiratory therapy, safety, and communication; familiarity with EHRs and medical terminology; and a patient-centered approach in a hospital setting.

• Graduate of an accredited program of Respiratory Therapy.
• Experience in diagnostic evaluation, therapy and education.
• Familiar with PHI privacy and healthcare regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs diagnostic evaluation, therapy and education according to established protocols or physician instruction.
• Demonstrates competency in ensuring patient safety at all times.
• Effectively communicates with patients, family members, hospital staff and physicians.
• Provides appropriate patient care and anticipates patient/family needs and comfort.
• Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Thorough knowledge of Respiratory Therapy diagnostic, treatment and education.
• Strong skills in using software such as Excel, Word, EHR Systems, etc.
• Medical terminology.
• Superb organization skills, follow-through and attention to detail.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Graduate of an accredited program of Respiratory Therapy.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• 1-3 years of experience in a critical care ICU setting.

REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

• Healthcare Provider BLS-if BLS is not AHA, AHA BLS is required within 3 months of hire.
• Healthcare Provider ACLS and PALS are required within 6 months of hire. (PALS not required for employees in the Cardiac Rehab department)
