Job summary

Geisinger, based in Wilkes-Barre, PA, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to assess and plan patient respiratory care, perform treatments, and collaborate with the care team in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role requires knowledge of airway management, aerosol therapies and ventilation support, with ACLS/BLS/NRP/PALS certifications provided or required. Expect a dynamic, patient-centered environment with opportunities for growth.

• ACLS, BLS, NRP and PALS certifications are required or provided to you.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient respiratory care needs and plans, organizes, performs and evaluates treatment modalities.
• Performs and documents thorough patient assessments and establishes care plans.
• Communicates with the care team and assists with airway management and ventilator support.
• Administers aerosolized meds, secretion management, oxygen therapy and supports routine care of artificial airways.
• Initiates and manages conventional and high frequency ventilation per protocol.
• Provides patient and family education for disease management.
• Assists in intra-hospital transport of ventilated patients and supports hemodynamic measurements.
• Adheres to safety standards, HIPAA and institutional policies.
